"Cheap Paintball Equipment Blows"
Imagine a ball filled with paint flying straight at you at
about 250 to 300 feet per second. If that hits bare skin or
lightly covered skin or any real sensitive unprotected body parts,
there is going to be some pain, probably lots of pain. Enough pain
to allow your rival to get the drop on you and possibly take you
out of play altogether. The solution, use your paintball safety
equipment.
Most of the paintball gear that you use is safety related do to the
extreme nature of the sport. So do not skimp when it comes to
choosing the quality of gear you will be using. It would suck to
have an awesome marker and be totally jacked to play and five
minutes later you're on the sidelines in a whole lot of pain.
First things first, get a high quality, comfortable, non-fogging
paintball mask and goggle system. Be sure you have a good range
of peripheral vision and that it is up to industry standards and
will withstand the impacts that the paintballs will inflict.
You'll want a mask that fits comfortably and securely so it's
not flopping around when your on the move. You'll probably want
a visor to shade your eyes and possibly a fan add-on to help
keep your face cool and the condensation and fogging of your
goggle lenses to a minimum. Stopping to clear your goggles all
the time sucks.
Consider throat protection if your comfortable with the gear.
A good pair of gloves will be worthwhile. The gloves should be
durable but very flexible and not to overly padded, you're not
going to fight the paintballs, just deflect them.
Chest protection is a good idea even though it may be somewhat
awkward for many players. You might try chest protection from
other sports like baseball, motocross and the like. With all
of the modern miracle materials you may find something that
suits you. At the very least get a heavy duty jersey that is
made specifically for paintball competition.
With all of the crawling, jumping and kneeling you'll be doing,
look into some quality light weight shin and knee protection.
That gravel you're your kneeling in will become a distraction
you don't need.
Keep that marker plugged when not in use or at least use a
barrel condom. That would really suck to "accidentally" shoot
someone that's just hanging out and having a great time at the
paintball field. Adjust barrel pressure down to the level
appropriate for the event you're participating in.
Don't forget yer Nads Dude ! You catch a paintball with one
of your jewels and you're going to be very unhappy. So get a
custom cup or a NuttyBuddy or something along those lines.
Well, that should get you started. You'll figure out what
works best as time goes on and you get out onto the field more.
Play Hard! Play Safe! Have fun!
